The collection

How it all started ?

In a university class, a stock certificate was said to be a condition for transfer of stocks.

At the end of class, a student approached his teacher, asking: “what does such a certificate look like?” The lecturer’s answer – “I don’t know” – led to the creation of the Barlev collection which reflects the economic history of the Jews in the Land of Israel and the State of Israel from the beginning of the 20th century.

The collection includes thousands of securities certificates (stocks, shares, bonds and options).

Thousands of people collect securities certificates (a hobby called “scripophily“) worldwide, with each focusing on a different subject or a number of key  subjects.
